Things to Consider When Test Driving Cars

You may be ready to buy a new car and perhaps you've even settled on a make and model of that car. Once you've done the necessary research on the car from your home, the next necessary step you must take is then going to the dealership and taking a test drive of that car. A test drive is important for you to be able to see and feel how the car you've chosen handles and drives, and can give you necessary information about that car and if it really is the right car.

When test driving a car, you'll want to take a few different steps to ensure that you get the most out of it. Before you take your test drive, ask the dealership if they have a repair service log for the vehicle. If they don't, be sure to check the tire pressure and oil level, and when you get inside the vehicle, check the headlights and brake lights before you start the car's engine.

After starting the car, listen carefully for a smooth sounding engine. Make sure to also check interior features, such as seat belts. It's a good idea to carry a log book with you to write down anything that you have questions about.

Test driving a car at your local dealership is a great way to get familiar with any given model of car that you've chosen. It's also a great time to take stock of the car's features and perhaps even some features that you aren't as impressed with. It'll give the arsenal to make the best decision.

SETIAP kali krisis minyak berlaku, idea menghasilkan kereta yang dapat menjimatkan penggunaan bahan api timbul.

Tidak ada bezanya dengan krisis yang berlaku sekarang apabila kereta hibrid muncul sebagai antara pilihan untuk menjimatkan penggunaan minyak. Berbanding kereta solar dan hidrogen, kereta hibrid bukan lagi suatu idea di atas kertas dan bersifat penyelidikan, tetapi meluncur di jalan raya apabila dikeluarkan secara komersial.



Kelebihan utama kereta hibrid ialah menjimatkan minyak. Mengikut Agensi Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (EPA) Amerika Syarikat pada 2007, Toyota Prius, yang menggunakan satu liter bahan api mampu pergi antara 21 hingga 25 kilometer (km), bergantung kepada pemanduan di lebuh raya atau bandar.

Kebanyakan kereta di Malaysia, satu liter hanya dapat meliputi perjalanan antara lapan hingga 12 km.

Kini, istilah kereta hibrid menjadi semakin biasa. Dekan Fakulti Kejuruteraan Mekanikal Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof Dr Azhar Abdul Aziz, mendefinisikan kereta hibrid sebagai kenderaan yang menggunakan dua atau lebih punca tenaga yang berbeza reka bentuk untuk membolehkan bergerak di atas jalan raya.



Kebiasaannya kereta hibrid bermaksud gabungan enjin pembakaran dalam (internal combustion engine) dan motor elektrik (electric motor).

Ramai menyangka kereta hibrid adalah perkara baru, tetapi teknologi ini sebenarnya dimajukan sejak lebih 100 tahun lalu.

Sejarah kereta hibrid bermula apabila Dr Ferdinand Porsche, mencipta kereta hibrid pertama, kereta elektrik petrol, Mixte atau nama panggilannya, Aunt Eulalia, tetapi nama rasminya ialah Semper Vivus yang bermaksud sentiasa hidup.

Kereta ini menggunakan enjin petrol yang silih berganti pada kelajuan tetap untuk menjana dinamo yang mengecas akumulator untuk memberikan kuasa kepada motor elektrik di roda depan.

DR Azhar menunjukkan enjin hibrid yang menjadi kajian di UTM.

Idea kereta hibrid zaman moden boleh dijejaki ketika krisis minyak pada 1973 dan 1979 yang menyebabkan Amerika Syarikat, mengambil inisiatif melakukan penyelidikan terhadap teknologi hibrid. Ini juga menyebabkan pengeluar kereta terbesar dunia, General Motor, ketika itu membelanjakan lebih RM65 juta terhadap penyelidikan dan pembangunan kereta hibrid.

Pengeluar kereta di benua lain tidak ketinggalan, terutama di negara maju yang isu alam sekitar mendapat perhatian serius.

Pengeluar kereta utama Jerman, Volkswagen, memperkenalkan teksi Microbus hibrid, manakala Di Jepun, pengeluar kereta nombor satu, Toyota membina prototaip enjin hibrid dan Mazda, mengeluarkan trak enjin hibrid, Titan.

Selepas banyak wang dicurahkan dan jurutera kereta memerah otak, pengeluar kereta nombor satu Jepun mendahului pengeluaran kereta hibrid secara komersil. Pertengahan 1997, Toyota memperkenalkan kereta hibrid pertama, Prius, untuk pasaran tempatan negara itu.

Honda tidak mahu ketinggalan dan melancarkan Honda Insight, kereta hibrid dua tempat duduk pada 1999 untuk pasaran Amerika Syarikat, diikuti kemasukan Prius ke negara itu tidak lama kemudian. Pada 2003, Honda memperkenalkan Honda Civic Hybrid yang menyamai Honda Civic konvensional.

Ketika pengeluar Jepun semakin ke depan, syarikat kereta Amerika Syarikat, Ford, pada 2004 melancarkan Ford Escape Hybrid, kenderaan hibrid pertama Amerika Syarikat dan juga SUV hibrid pertama dunia.

Selepas itu semua menjadi sejarah. Pengeluar kereta terkemuka dunia kini menjadikan pengeluaran kereta hibrid sebagai keutamaan.

    Sistem ini banyak digunakan pengeluar kereta gergasi dunia. Ia adalah enjin pembakaran dalam dan sebuah motor elektrik yang disambung ke sebuah sistem transmisi. Kebanyakan sistem begini menggabungkan jana kuasa elektrik besar dan sebuah motor elektrik dalam satu unit.

    Starter motor dan alternator tidak digunakan. Untuk menyimpan kuasa, ia menggunakan bateri bersaiz besar untuk menyimpan voltan yang lebih besar daripada biasa, iaitu 12 Volt. Peralatan lain seperti stering kuasa (power steering) dan penghawa dingin memperoleh kuasa daripada motor elektrik.

    Sistem ini menyerupai sistem kereta elektrik berbateri daripada kereta berpacuan enjin pembakaran dalam. Enjin memacu generator elektrik dan tidak menyalurkan kuasa terus ke roda kereta. Generator yang tersedia mengecas bateri dan membekal pusa kepada motor elektrik yang menggerakkan kenderaan.

    Apabila kuasa yang besar diperlukan, motor elektrik menyedut kuasa elektrik daripada bateri dan generator. Sistem transmisi tidak diperlukan. Terdapat juga reka bentuk yang memperuntukkan satu motor elektrik untuk satu tayar bagi sistem begini.

    Sistem bersiri boleh dipasang dengan bateri jenis penyimpan kuasa elektrik super (supercapacitor) atau roda tenaga (flywheel) untuk menyimpan tenaga yang ditebus guna ketika menghentikan (brek) kenderaan. Proses ini meningkatkan kecekapan kenderaan keseluruhannya.

    Susunan kombinasi selari dan bersiri

    Sistem ini mempunyai alat pemisah kuasa (power-split) membolehkan kuasa dipindah daripada punca ke hiliran secara mekanikal atau elektrik.

    Prinsip asas di sebalik sistem ini ialah kebolehan untuk memisahkan kuasa (decoupling) yang dibekalkan oleh enjin (atau punca lain) daripada kuasa yang diperlukan oleh pemandu.

    Dalam kenderaan konvensional, enjin bersaiz besar diperlukan untuk menghasilkan pecutan daripada keadaan pegun ke keadaan laju akibat daya kilas enjin adalah rendah pada halaju rendah. Sebaliknya, motor elektrik mempamerkan daya kilas tinggi pada halaju rendah yang membantu enjin yang mempunyai kecekapan rendah pada halaju rendah.

    First Modification To My SAGA BLM(Part 2)

    The modification of my SAGA BLM is now continue:-


    After thinking rationally about my budget and my vision to midified my SAGA BLM,i have made a decision.A bodykit that satisfied my vision and my pocket money.Hehe..I bought for my white BLM the boodykit that suits me.Full bodykit that is like modulo bodykit but it is different and with R3 spoiler.All the bodykit is without any paint.Below is the picture of the bodykit.

    First Modification to My SAGA BLM ( PART 1)

    Last 2 weeks,i took my petrol rebate at Post Office and done my first modification to the car.RM625 cash in my hand and i am free to do something to my car.I drive with my friend to Kuantan and survey the Bodykit for this SAGA BLM car.From what i have read in the internet,there are several type of bodykit that is available for this car.

    1.The modulo Bodykit




















    2.Airmaster bodykit.























    This airmaster bodykit will cost about RM1100 to RM 1300 without spoiler.If With spoiler,will cost about RM 1280 to RM 1500.


    My budget is only around RM 700 only for my SAGA BLM.I will not able to get this airmaster bodykit for this time being.It is smart with that bodykit because my car is also white.One shop in Jalan Beserah offer full bodykit with spoiler but without paint in RM700 not included assemble cost.But i do not like that spoiler.




    Got to think a lot for this modification.It will effect my car look.

    The day i take my White SAGA BLM home!!






    Actually i have taken my car last 2 weeks but only now that i am free to begin tyo make this blog about my White SAGA BLM.Attached here is the Virgin and original white SAGA BLM that i took from EON garage.

    This is my car at eon garage before i can take it home in the next week.I cannot take it home because the car is not registered with JPJ yet and that day only half day the JPJ work.So sad that day.Only this picture that i take from outside the EON garage that can cure me to wait for the next week to take my car.huhu..

    White SAGA BLM

    Lastly,after a long waiting period,finally i manage to get my first new car.My Solid white SAGA BLM.So exited to get that SAGA BLM till i went to EON myself to get that car.huhu..I booked my car in last August and this month i only get that car.Hmm.About 2 months to get that car.But it is acceptable because i really satisfied with that car.This car which is B-Line model only provided 13 inch Steel Rims with cover,Clarion Audio CD player with only rear speaker inside the car,no fog lamp,and i think with no airbag.I got my car last week on Monday, 10 November 2008 at 4.00 pm.First of all,to get my car out of EON garage,i need to sign several documents.The accesories that being given needed to be check before i can take the car.First thing that i spotted gone when i looked at the car is the Antenna.So, i asked the salesman about that and he began searching my car for the antenna.Finally i found it inside my right door basket(don’t know what to call that part.hehe).I took the antenna and put it to my car.Then, the salesman check for other parts that is the jack,spanner,the towing equipment,tyre spanner,and the device to move the rims cover.After satisfied that all the equipments is completed,i askes the salesman about this SAGA BLM engine number and also the chassis number.I need to see it myself to make me satisfied.The salesman could not show me where the chasis no and engine no(i think most of the salesman do not know all about the car.They only know how to sell that car).I searched it myself and find the engine no in the middle of the engine and the salesman told that the chasis no is being rivetted at right chasis in the middle of the door.I checked the no of this SAGA BLM and satisfied.Finally,after checked all the car and signed all the document,i finally can take my car.My beloved White SAGA BLM.huhu..The distance between my house and this EON is about 80 km,so i need to fill up my fuel first.So, i went to Shell petrol station nearby to fill up my fuel.My concern is that when i fill the fuel full,the pump cannot detect the tank is ful or not.Usually the pump will automatically stop when the fuel tank is full but this time,the pump cannoct detect it.Quickly i splash water to the spot where the fuel is overflow to prevent any damage to the car paint.This time full tank RM70.00.Feel so excited when driving this car.My first new car which i need some time to get really comfortable with it.Different way of using the clutch and brakes.I only drive 60-70 km per hour that day.huhu..This SAGA BLM feels comfortable for the tall people like me(i am about 179cm).The handling is good,the seat is comfortable,the gear a little bit hard to release(maybe because it is a new car),adjusting my style to suit the left handled signal and lamp.Huhu.Sometimes when i want to turn the signal,i turned tha wiper on.Hoping to get this car to modified soon.It not so cool with this standart view.
